Rooted in the Wesleyan-Holiness Theological traditions

The Wesleyan tradition offers a beautifully balanced approach to faith, emphasizing both God's transforming grace and human response. At its heart lies the conviction that salvation is freely offered to all people and that grace actively transforms our hearts, minds, and lives.

We believe that the Christian life is a compelling integration of personal faith with social response—genuine faith naturally flows into compassionate action for vulnerable people, near and far. We recognize that the holy life isn't about sinless perfection but about Christlike love being made complete in Christ; where our hearts become so aligned with God's heart that we increasingly love God and love people with authentic Christlike love.

God is already at work in every person's life before they even know it (that's God's prevenient grace), offering hope that no one is beyond the reach of divine love and transformation. We believe that it is possible to live with the assurance of God's love while also being challenged to live our lives of love boldly in the world.

Sunday - 9:30 a.m. - Discipleship growth classes
Sunday - 10:30 a.m. - Morning worship (English-language)

Where are you located?

Join us in person at 2701 S Five Mile Rd in Boise.
Use our Communication Card if you have questions or would like to schedule a visit.

Where do I park, and which door do I use?

Feel free to park anywhere in our large parking area. If you can't quite see the lines, just get as close as you can! Enter through the front door of the main building -- you can't miss it!

What should I wear?

We are unapologetically a "come as you are" community of people who gather together for worship and community. You're likely to see a little bit of everything -- suits, shorts, dresses, jeans, etc. As Scripture reminds us -- "clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience" (Colossians 3:12b)

Can I watch online if I can't make it in person?

Yes!
You can find the livestream on this website (fmnaz.org) or by going to YouTube and searching for @5milenazarene. Most weeks, by Monday, you can find both a full service recording and a sermon-only recording.

What happens during a typical service?

A typical Sunday morning service includes:
  • A mixture of praise and worship music styles
  • Scripture readings
  • Various forms of Prayer
  • Announcements
  • Brief greeting time
  • A Scripturally and theologically sound message
  • Sharing of the Lord's Supper

Periodically, we have a combined service with your Swahili-language congregation, missionary guest speakers, and other special events.

Will I be asked to stand up or introduce myself in front of everyone?

No -- that's terrifying!
We do have a short greeting time near the beginning of our service -- a time to greet others and be greeted. It's very low-key, and our people are very friendly. We want to get to know you, but you won't be forced to give any information you don't want to give.

Do you take an offering, and am I expected to give?

We do not usually pass an offering plate. We have an offering box at the back of the sanctuary, along with online giving options as well. You will not be pressured to give or made to feel guilty if you don't participate.
Having said that, if you want to give to a church where you giving is appreciated, needed, and used to make an impact around the world and across the street, we invite you to give generously for the building of God's kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven.

Is communion (Lord's Supper) part of your service and will I be able to participate?

We share communion (Lord's Supper) together roughly every other week. You do not need to be a member of the Church of the Nazarene or a regular attender of Five Mile Nazarene in order to participate.

Is the service offered in Swahili as well as English?

Most weeks, our English-language worship is at 10:30 a.m., and our Swahili-language worship is at 4:00 p.m. Every 6-8 weeks we have a combined multilingual and multicultural service at 10:30 a.m.

What denomination are you, and what do you believe?

Five Mile Church of the Nazarene is part of the global Church of the Nazarene. Please visite nazarene.org for more information or see our statement of beliefs here.

How can I get involved or serve?

We believe that God has given all of his children gifts for ministry and service. In the church, we all serve in areas of need and, as possible, in areas of our giftedness. Finding a place to serve is of great importance! For those who wish to serve with our children and youth, we take safety and security very seriously, so there is a process of training and approval for ministry in these areas.

Who do I contact if I have more questions?

Please use our Communication Card.

Can I bring a friend?

Ummmm.... YES, of course!
Please do.
